About
Heather is an AHPRA-registered physiotherapist with 24 years of clinical experience, specialising in rehabilitation and complex physical conditions. Her career has included extensive tertiary hospital and community rehabilitation, with more than a decade specialising in lower limb amputee rehabilitation.
Heather works with a range of scars, including post-surgical, abdominal, C-section, traumatic, cancer-related and amputation scars. She uses hands-on soft tissue mobilisation, Lymphatouch® techniques, cupping, desensitisation, vibration and guided movement to reduce restriction, pain and hypersensitivity and restore normal movement.
Scars can create restrictions between layers of tissue, limiting normal movement and causing the body to compensate. Over time, these compensatory movement patterns can contribute to muscle and joint overload, pain and dysfunction elsewhere in the body. For amputees, Heather has particular expertise in residual limb scarring and its impact on prosthetic comfort and socket fit.
Heather does not apply a single fixed method. Treatment is tailored to each person, considering their tissues, healing stage, goals, time, funding and lifestyle. Scar therapy is about function, comfort and confidence not just appearance (although this improves too) and is integrated into the person’s wider rehabilitation where needed.
