Hello, I am a family osteopath based in Hertford, Hertfordshire. I treat people of all ages, including babies, children and pregnant women. I offer newborn assessments and Mummy MOT post natal assessments, which includes assessment and home advice about caesarean section scars.

I also offer caesarean section scar therapy as a standalone treatment or as part of a wider treatment addressing aches, pains or symptoms elsewhere in the body. This can be incredibly helpful for women who’s bodies are readjusting after the changes that have occurred during pregnancy and labour, while also adapting to the demands of looking after a newborn, often alongside other children and other caring responsibilities.

Scar therapy can be carried out at any time period post surgery after the scar itself has fully closed. This is usually from around 6-8 weeks post surgery, but benefits can be seen and new symptoms can occur many years after the initial surgery. Scar therapy benefits can include improved healing and visual look of scars, regaining more normal feeling in areas of altered sensation, reducing adhesions along and deep below the scar which can cause tensions, discomfort and altered movement in the long term.

For many women, it is the first time the scar has been touched by someone else and it can encourage a connection with the scar, which can be linked to strong emotions. Scar therapy is a calm and gentle treatment that can provide great benefits to areas of the body and mind, far beyond the scar itself.
