CancerCare is an independent charity that provides free therapies, help and support to people of all ages affected by cancer, life-shortening illness or bereavement. CancerCare’s mission is to give people the strength to step forward. We will help people discover their capacity for life when times are tough – with the professional help, emotional support and collective strength to face whatever is next.

We offer a range of different therapies that are given by qualified and experienced practitioners in a welcoming, friendly, accessible and non-clinical environment. Our therapists meet the requirements of both national and local registering bodies, and they are fully insured. All the therapies we offer are designed to complement treatments and advice from other healthcare professionals.

The therapies on offer include: acupuncture, Alexander technique, aromatherapy, counselling, EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and processing), hypnotherapy, Indian head massage, nutritional advice, reiki, reflexology and scar tissue therapy.

We have four centres in Lancaster, Kendal, Barrow and Morecambe. Our main centre is Slynedales, located on Slyne Road, Lancaster, LA2 6ST. Our three other centre addresses are here:

Centres have various opening times, but are usually open at least one evening a week.

Once you have made a referral, you will arrange a time to chat with one of our assessors who will discuss the various options to help you make a decision on which therapy is right for you. Your therapist will discuss your needs in detail and will regularly review your therapy with you to see if the sessions are proving useful.
