Market Studios Wellness Centre in the heart of Greenwich Market offers a variety of movement classes and treatments including Scar Therapy which is provided by our therapist Ramona Peoples. Here is what Ramona says:
Scars, regardless of their size or age, can have a significant impact. Assisting you in regaining confidence, enabling you to engage in activities that bring you joy, move and breathe more easily, wear the clothes you want and experience less discomfort while doing so, is what fuels my passion in this work.
With over 20 years of experience and extensive training in bodywork and movement teaching, I integrate scar therapy and lymphatic massage with breathwork and movement coaching to help bring new levels of freedom and confidence to your life.
Central to my practice is our partnership in understanding your unique story behind your challenges and your aspirations. Together, we’ll work towards your goals, with each session customised to your needs. I will treat your scars, provide guidance on self-care, breathing exercises, simple movements, and daily habits to support your healing journey.
My focus primarily lies with clients bearing pelvic and abdominal scars, as well as those with scars from cancer treatments, encompassing surgeries, port, and radiation scars. Drawing from extensive experiences in core and pelvic health, as well as personal encounters with cancer treatments, I bring a deep understanding to my clients’ needs.
I care about supporting you and your scars. It warms my heart to see the transformations, both physically and emotionally, through this gentle yet effective work.

I’m very grateful to Ramona for the work she did on my scars after major surgery. She was deeply sensitive and understood the vulnerability of revealing my operative scars. Her patient and careful work over a course of weeks was hugely beneficial and enabled me to also use the right creams and properly attend to healing my scars. Almost three years on they are almost invisible and I have Ramona’s expertise and attention to thank for that. This is really important self-care for fully healing from operations. The deeper work needed to ensure that scars don’t harden and impair movement is not something the NHS will tell you about or be able to do for you. But it’s well worth the investment.

I found the aftercare and advice given to me by Ramona following major abdominal surgery to be invaluable. After my surgery which was undertaken by the NHS, I was left with a scar far greater than I had expected, or was prepared for. Ramona’s sensitivity and understanding of this, the work she carried out, and the advice she gave on how I could continue to improve the appearance and health of the scar, has meant after only a year following the surgery the scar has diminished greatly and still continues to improve. Ramona’s expertise and advice in scar self-care and understanding of how to prevent hardening, and also how to aid its healing below the surface, was so important to my healing, and to ensure my movement was not affected. This level of aftercare and advice was not offered to me by the NHS. The sessions with Ramona were by far the best investment I could have made in myself.

To be completely honest, I must admit that I was very sceptical about scar therapy. In my understanding, scars are a genetically determined response of the body to trauma; some people develop hypertrophic keloid scars, while others get minor scars. Therefore, when I felt a thick scar after surgery, I was afraid to even look at it. I reached out to Ramona only because I had already experienced her immense professionalism several times, but I did not have much hope regarding my scar. The result exceeded all my expectations. It not only surprised me but also my surgeon, who asked for permission to take a picture of that thin thread-like line, which theoretically was supposed to be called a scar.
I am grateful to Ramona not just for this miracle. There was a time when I thought I would never be able to dress without assistance again because the pain in my shoulder, which severely limited my movements. But thanks to Ramona’s treatment and the Pilates classes she led, I not only got rid of the pain but also discovered the joy of movement, got to know, and made great friends with my body.
I cannot even express all my gratitude to Ramona in words. Ramona’s treatment and education has a healing effect not only on external but also on internal scars.
