Somatic Therapy; Embodied healing for chronic pain, stress and trauma related symptoms

Somatic therapy is a body based approach to healing chronic pain, stress and trauma related symptoms. A body based approach is necessary to restore the mind body connection, increase capacity for self regulation of the nervous system and find freedom from the limitations of adaptive survival physiology which is often the outcome of developmental and relational trauma. While not ignoring your past, this approach emphasises working in the present moment to focus on your strengths, resources and resiliency.

You may of heard the phrase ‘you need to feel it to heal it’. This is true, however the nuance is that ‘feeling it’ – without risk of overwhelm or dissociation – requires capacity and a resourced nervous system. I help my clients grow in capacity by connecting with how it feels to feel safe, connected and present. Only then can we safely start to turn towards discomfort in the body, get curious about sensation and hold space for your process and emotion.
