Hi, I’m Alison a soft tissue therapist specialising in scar therapy. I focus on listening to you and along with observations of your movement and palpation (use of touch to assess soft tissue) I identify the possible causes of your discomfort and develop a personalised treatment plan including self-care advice to support your recovery after and between treatments.
Whilst working as a teacher and headteacher I went for regular massage treatments to relieve the tension and stress. I undertook a Swedish massage course purely out of curiosity and a desire to learn and do something new and different.
This hobby quickly turned into a new career. I thrived facing a new challenge and learning new things. To address some of the ailments and questions my clients had I trained as a soft tissue therapist. This enabled me to deepen my understanding of the human body and techniques needed to treat a wide range of issues and problems that arise due to injury, posture, illness, and strain.
When some of my regular clients came to see me following surgery to remove tumours, I could see the impact this had on them both physically and emotionally. From a soft tissue perspective, it was clear that the surgery had impacted the function, appearance and responsiveness of the tissue and I began to research how I could help. This research included undertaking the RESTORE scar therapy training which complemented my existing soft tissue therapy skills perfectly.
